Virginia beach: Day 6
It was time for my last meal in Virginia Beach. The other folks from my table decided to join me for what would turn out to be the best meal I had all week. Some of the locals in our group had recommended this place to me, with the information that getting in is kind of a challenge considering they were featured on FoodNetwork. I had mentioned I was a food blogger, big fan of FN, and a foodie. I decided to wait for my last meal, afraid that if I went the first day, I’d want to go every single day and run out of money. I’m glad I waited…it was worth the wait.

Guy Fieri visited Citrus and rated it as 4 stars. He ordered the citrus glazed pancakes topped with banana and pineapple. Sounded good, but pancakes don’t make me feel full so I went another direction.
I decided to start with the She Crab Soup, to top off the week of soup and pie. This one was exceptional. No frills or fancy stuff, just some parsley and a cracker wrapped in plastic. At $4.99, I thought the portion size was good, and the pieces of crab were plentiful. Overall, this was a great bowl of soup.
For my main, I ordered the fish tacos and felt like I had finally found what a fish taco was supposed to taste like. The fish was lightly pan fried and topped with a mango jalapeño salsa, lettuce, onions and a little sour cream. They were served with homemade chips. Perfectly fried, perfectly seasoned chips. I ate the whole dish, which I almost never do. I did pay the price of all those chips for the next 24 hours, but it was worth it.
The other people in my party ordered breakfast items, and loved every single bite. One of my dining companions actually said “I’m not leaving this table until my plate is clean. I will eat every bite of this.” And she did.
We were in a bit of a hurry, but our awesome waitress was kind enough to bring our check AS she brought our food so we could leave just as soon as we had shoved the tasty morsels in our mouths.
If I ever return to Virginia Beach, I will go back to Citrus and hopefully order the same exact meal.
