Hereghty Heavenly Delicious

There’s this little shopping center at the intersection of Oberlin and Glenwood called Glenwood Village Shopping Center.  It’s home to a variety of shops, including this quaint little coffee shop with a name I can never seem to pronounce.

I’ve visited Hereghty a handful of times.  I usually really enjoy the ambiance of this spot, but on occasion it does get a little busy, at which point it can be overwhelming.  The interior is very tiny, and when business is hopping, it’s hard to hear yourself think.  But, if you happen by at a time when you have your choice of tables, and can get the good one near the back wall, not too close to the corner, then you will be happy to snuggle in.

When the weather cooperates, you can enjoy a seat on their outdoor patio.  Even for a shopping center coffee shop, the patio never seems overwhelmed by cars or people.  The tables are large, and well spread out.

Not a great shot, I know, but this will give you a little visual of how large their selection of pastries is.  They offer croissants (chocolate, butter, ham and cheese and almond), cookies, muffins, breads, cakes, tortes, and random other new choices throughout.  On very few occasions, they serve their own version of the cronut (donuts made with flaky croissant dough).

I thought they were very tasty! Light and airy, with a good amount of flavor.  I had the cinnamon and the powdered sugar and wanted to eat about a dozen more.  The pastry chef made them for a few days, then took them out of the case due to the difficulty of execution – they have to be made individually, instead of cooked as a whole batch.  Occasionally, they pop them back into the case.

The almond croissant is filled with delicious almond paste and covered in toasted slivers.  It’s very good, especially with a latte.

My companion ordered the ham and cheese croissant and seemed to enjoy it.

On other visits, I’ve enjoyed their crapes.  They have a huge selection of both sweet and savory variety.  They also serve a mean flourless tort, nutella cake, chocolate chewies and a large selection of beverages, including alcoholic and non-alcoholic.  They offer daily wine and beer specials too!
