Beach Shop and Grill

The Beach Shop and Grill is one of my favorite spots for lunch on the island.  I’ve dined there for dinner a handful of times as well and aside from their key lime pie, the food is always wonderful.

My sister and I were lucky enough to get in for lunch on a Saturday right at the crux of the usual rush with only about a 10 minute wait.  Not so bad at all.  We were greeted right away, offered us a choice of seats at the bar, then soon after we were taken to our table.  Our server was fantastic! Very helpful when we asked questions about the menu and fast with all of our foods.

We ordered a few drinks to start with.

She ordered a pear drink with many rums and a very refreshing flavor.  I ordered an old fashioned.  It was filled with cherry and orange and topped with bourbon.  Very “beachy” and drinkable.

For our appetizer, we shared a bowl of the She Crab Soup ($5.95).  It was a little lumpy, but delicious.  Great flavor of sherry, good  amount of spice.

For lunch, I went with the grouper tacos.  They were delicious.  Topped with a mango salsa and chipotle aioli, they had so much flavor.  The grouper was cooked perfectly! The chips were home made and had a great crunch.

My sister ordered the crab cake BLT with a fried green tomato on top.  Each individual item was cooked well and tasted great but all together, it was a lot of breading.  She ended up taking it apart and eating the components by themselves.

The ambiance is nice, great seating, but no beach view.  Sometimes it gets a little loud, but that’s difficult to avoid when a place is as full as the beach shop.

If you are on topsail and in need of a place to eat lunch, PLEASE take my advice and go eat there.  You won’t regret it.
