Trophy Brewing & Pizza Co.
I really enjoy pizza and beer. And since leaving Columbus, Ohio some 4 odd years ago, I’ve been on a hunt for pizza that is even close to some of the amazing spots we had there. Until recently, nothing really did. Enter, Trophy Brewing and Pizza Co. Not only do they have exceptional pizza, but they also brew their own beer! It’s a small brewery and the batches are always special and tasty.

The location is near perfect! Right on a corner, parking lot in the back and some spots out front as well. The inside can feel a little cramped at times when the place is really busy, but otherwise, they have great high tables, spots around the bar and a really cool patio.
Our service has always been pretty spot on. Occasionally, you may wait a little bit between beers, or have to ask for water but considering how busy they are, service is good, food comes out quickly and the servers aren’t trying to prove how much cooler they are than you if you ask questions about the food or drinks.
On this particularly lovely night, I was fortunate enough to have the company of two new dinner companions and of course, my lovely neighbor. I believe it was a Wednesday night. When I pulled up, there was a run club out front which nearly made me turn around and leave. I figured we’d NEVER get a table. As I walked in to check it out, I realized they were isolated to the front parking area. Plenty of spots outside. I grabbed a high table and began searching the beer menu.
They have rotating taps, so be prepared to love something that is no longer available the next time you visit. This happened to me. But, the menu is chock full of other beers so you will most likely find one to enjoy. I believe I had the Best In Show, an American Saison that is pretty light and easy to drink. My neighbor had the Biggest Flirt, a Belgian IPA. To me, this beer is a little over the top with hops but it’s drinkable.
Time to order pizza! They have a specials board with a new pizza each day. On this particular day, there was a pizza called the Duck Man, Private Pie. It was OUTSTANDING. I mean, really really good. Smoked duck on a pizza? I wasn’t sure. But it was great. The duck was nice and smoky, and not dry. The pizza also had crispy kale, manchaego cheese and roasted red peppers. I subbed in sundried tomatoes instead of peppers and it was great! I believe this pizza was $22 for a large, which was enough pizza to feed my friend that stopped by later and three more meals for me.
My neighbor and one of her friends ordered the Daredevil. This is $13/$21 depending on if you order a small or large. It’s covered in pepperoni, jalapeño peppers, ghost chili pepper salami, fire roasted red tomato sauce, cheese, caramelized onion and sriracha sauce. They ate almost the entire pizza.
Our final dining friend ordered the Indoor Kid. This is a white pizza with ricotta and mozzarella cheeses, tomatoes, basil and garlic. It sounds good to me, and was my second choice for the evening. This pizza is $10 for a small and $18 for a large.
The only downfall at Trophy is that your choices for size are small and large. There isn’t a medium. The large is enough to feed 4 and the small is barely large enough to feed one person. If you are ok with leftovers, you might as well go ahead and order yourself a large pizza. This brought down my value score a little. I will occasionally eat left overs, but when I want pizza, I want fresh pizza. I don’t want frozen or microwave heated pizza.
